Michael's dishes up playoff win over Dickson's

AJAX -- Michael's Eatery won a hard-fought victory over Dickson Printing 50-44 in the opening round of playoff action on Wednesday, March 26.

Michael's quarter-final victory was the result of a solid team effort, with Bill Manos leading the way with 16 points. Rick Wasson, with 14 points, and Doug Coles, with 12, complemented Manos's effort.

Louis Davis had an outstanding game for Dickson, scoring 17 points, assisted by Gord Brown with eight.

Phillips, Hager and North defeated North Alliance Press 37-29 in the second game of quarter-final action. The game was a physical contest as an extremely strong PH&N defence won out over an NAP offence greatly reduced by the loss of Raymond Hartley early in the first half. Claude Feig led PH&N with 15 points and John Girimonte added nine.

Frank Spagnuolo led NAP with seven points, followed by Yves Dube and Kitson Wallace with six apiece.

Semifinal action resumes on Wednesday, April 2 with Top Shelf playing Phillips, Hager and North at 8 p.m. and ESN Packaging playing Michael's Eatery at 9 p.m. There will be a shootaround for all other players from 6:45 until 7:45 p.m.
