DURHAM -- A misplaced wallet may have given a thief an opportunity to use a credit card in the fraudulent purchase of electronics, police said. Durham police have released security camera images of the suspect, who is believed to have used a stolen card to make purchases of electronics at three shops in Pickering Feb. 15. The purchases totalled more than $1,000, police said. Police in Clarington contacted the card owner the same day and learned the man had misplaced his wallet and cards earlier in the week. The suspect is a white man in his mid-40s who stands about six foot two, weighs 200 pounds and has a medium build and a moustache. He wore a dark toque, a black leather coat over a hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and wire-rimmed glasses. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-579-1520, extension 1605, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
