Fabricating Technics finishing season with strong run

PORT PERRY -- The Port Perry Bantam Select team sponsored by Fabricating Technics Inc. has played well during the later stages of the season.

Their good play started at the Heritage Classic tournament in Oshawa. The team played West Hill and the offence got rolling with a 12-4 victory. MVP for this game was Liam Gainey. The team ended up in the B Final in the Major Division. Port played the best game of the year to date pushing a strong Nepean team to the limit before losing 5-4. The tenacious Mitch van den Berg scored with Port's goalie pulled and the Predators were storming the opposition's goal when the buzzer sounded. Also scoring for Port was Nick Corsi with a bullet to the top corner and Nicholas Shinas who was voted MVP of the game.

Port continued their strong play with a victory over Oshawa, a team they had lost to earlier. The defence of Travis Mackey, Paul Taillon, Sean Demmer and Gary Ryckman played well and shut down Oshawa in the final period.

Port then hosted Woodville for another exciting home game. This game went down to the wire with Woodville coming away with a 4-3 victory. Scoring for the home side was Tyler Stephen, Beau Norris and Nathan Scott. Assists went to David Shadlock and Brook-lyn Luchka.

Next Port travelled to Pickering and came away with another victory. Tyler Stephen scored twice in this 4-2 victory. Josh Meekin also scored a nice goal for the Predators.

Unionville came to town and the fans were given an exciting game. The Predators won this close battle 4-2 with an empty net goal. Paul Taillon scored on a shot from the blueline, Nathan Scott scored on a breakaway after a great pass from Travis Mackey and Tyler Stephen finished Unionville off with the empty net goal. Jordan deJong-Schillings and Ally Jobe made some terrific saves to keep Port in the game as the Jets had many more scoring chances than the Predators.

The team is looking forward to the season ending tournament in Bolton in April. The sponsor, Fabricating Technics Inc, is covering the costs of the final tournament.
