Bandit brandished knife in store robbery

AJAX -- A knife-wielding bandit made off with cash and tobacco after robbing a convenience store in Ajax Monday morning.

Durham police said the suspect produced a black-handled kitchen knife and robbed a 43-year-old male clerk at the Ragika convenience store on Ritchie Avenue around 8:45 a.m. The bandit helped himself to cigars, cigarettes and cash before fleeing the store and running off northbound on Westney Road.

No one was hurt during the robbery. The suspect is a black man in his early 20s who stands about six-foot-two. He wore a dark hooded jacket and had a bandana over his face.
