OSHAWA -- The Oshawa Generals have drawn first blood.

Michael Del Zotto fired a goal and an assist as the Generals posted a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa 67's in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series Friday night in front of 5,155 at the General Motors Centre.

Del Zotto scored the first goal of the game, just 1:24 in and assisted on Brett MacLean's third period marker, which stood as the winner.

Dale Mitchell's second period tally accounted for the other Oshawa goal.

In net, Michal Neuvirth looked every bit like the goaltender that won an OHL championship with the Plymouth Whalers just a season ago as he made several great stops in a 33-save effort.

At the other end, the Generals fired 25 shots at Ottawa‚s Adam Courchaine, while Jamie McGinn and Matthieu Methot provided the goals.

The Generals will take a 1-0 series lead into Game 2, Sunday night at the GM Centre at 6:05.
