OSHAWA -- Prior to their final regular season game, the Oshawa Generals handed out their annual player awards, with captain Eric Regan skating away as winner of a pair of accolades.

The most prestigious came in the annual Presidents Award, which is given to the player who has contributed the most to the hockey club over an extended period of time.

The other award he came away with was the most valuable teammate award. With Regan sporting the 'C' on the club, it seemed fitting.

Meanwhile, after leading the Ontario Hockey League with 61 goals and posting a team-high 119 points, Brett MacLean captured the most valuable forward award.

Defencemen David Corrente was named the club's rookie of the year. In 40 games, Corrente, a second round pick out of Mississauga had 1-2-3 numbers and was a plus-4 with 22 penalty minutes. He was the only rookie on an otherwise veteran club to receive any significant playing time this season.

Still on the blue-line, overager Ryan McGinnis proved the steady veteran presence that was expected when he was acquired last summer, and for his efforts was named the club's most valuable defencemen.

Kory Nagy emerged this season as a quality defensive forward and possibly the Generals' best penalty killer, and for that was selected as the Madeleine Ashmore Memorial Trophy winner as the most underrated player.

John Tavares captured the Duncan Ferguson 'dedication and perseverance' Memorial Trophy after potting 40 goals and 118 points in 58 games.
