Let's get 'Fizzical'
Tue Feb 19, 2008
UXBRIDGE -- Uxbridge is getting 'Fizzical' this March. Durham Farm and Rural Family Resources, located on Reach Street in Uxbridge, is hosting a 'Fizzical Fizzicks' show on Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m., at the Uxbridge arena community centre, located at 291 Brock St. W. In 2005, the Ontario Science Centre invited performers Greg Tarlin and Kristi Heath to create a show to complement the centre's circus exhibit. "The result was Fizzical Fizzicks... this show combines traditional circus equipment, popular toys and some giant props to help display and explain the properties of three types of motion: translation, rotation and vibration," reads a news release on the event. "(The show) blends theatre, clowning and circus skills into an action-packed show that entertains both visually and narratively. The rollicking pace of the show along with a valuable educational component makes for a great time for the entire family." Tickets cost $12 for child or adult, or $49 for a family pass (up to six people). Children aged three and under get in free. To order tickets, call 1-800-419-7383. Proceeds from the event will benefit programs of Durham Farm Resources. The mission of the organization is to provide "quality and flexible childrens' services and programs to farm and rural families in Durham Region," according to the group's website, www.durhamfamilyresources.org.
