WHITBY -- Laura Celsie continues to carry on her battle to raise awareness about congenital heart defects since the untimely death of her two-year-old nephew last year.
Wyatt died last May after struggling with the disease, the most common birth defect affecting one in 70 babies in Canada.
Ms. Celsie, who lives in Brooklin, established a charity called Wyatt's Warriors, which has raised thousands of dollars for the cause.
"We will continue to honour Wyatt's memory every single day," Ms. Celsie said after his death.
The second annual Have A Heart gala for Wyatt is being held on Friday, Feb. 12 at Tosca Banquet Hall, 800 Champlain Ave., Oshawa.
Money raised will go to the cardiac critical care unit at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where Wyatt spent most of his life.
Tickets are $100 per person and must be purchased by Friday, Feb. 5. The cost will cover a five-course meal, open bar, silent auction, dancing, raffles, door prizes and live entertainment from comedian Dave Hemstad and singer Georgia Higgins. Cocktails are at 5:30 and dinner is at 7 p.m.
