UXBRIDGE -- Durham police have confirmed a man was found dead Tuesday in a vehicle in Uxbridge’s Elgin Park, but the cause of death is not yet known.

Sergeant Nancy van Rooy of Durham Regional Police called the incident a “sudden death”, but did not have any other details around 1 p.m.

Forensics is on scene and police have blocked access to Elgin Park for the investigation Tuesday afternoon.

Several Durham Regional Police cruisers converged at the park, off Main Street South, following a medical emergency call to the Uxbridge Fire Department around 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 19. Police officers put up yellow tape across the entrance to the park shortly after the incident.

There is a tarp across the front of the vehicle in the Elgin parking lot.
