Uxbridge celebrates Canada's birthday

Fireworks, entertainment, Citizen of the Year award on bill

UXBRIDGE -- Uxbridge is ready celebrate this country's birthday next week.

The Township is hosting a free Canada Day celebration in Elgin Park July 1, beginning at 5 p.m. and ending near dusk with a fireworks display. Entertainment, including Belly Button the Clown, Superman and Zoo to You, are featured and food will be available to purchase. The Times-Journal will present its annual Citizen of the Year award around 8 p.m.

The event is free, with donations accepted at the gate.

Meanwhile, the Uxbridge Legion on Franklin Street is hosting a free family barbecue from noon to 2 p.m. that day.
