Score one goal in semifinal opener

Aug 01, 2008 - 09:03 AM

BRAMPTON – The Brooklin Redmen were given a vivid demonstration as to why the Brampton Excelsiors finished in first place this Major Series Lacrosse season.

Opening a best-of-seven semifinal in Brampton Thursday night, the Redmen were only able to muster a single goal in a 13-1 defeat.

Jeff Shatler led the home side with five goals and an assist, scoring what proved to be the winner just 4:33 into the contest.

Dan Dawson also had six points for the winners, including a hat trick.

Captain Shawn Williams supplied the lone Redmen tally, making the score 3-1 in the first minute of the second period.

The series resumes Monday in Brampton before shifting to Iroquois Park for Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Friday, both at 8:30 p.m.
