June 27, 2008 - 04:52

PICKERING -- A teenager was sexually assaulted while walking home late Tuesday night.

The 19-year-old woman was on Liverpool Road north of Kingston Road around 11:45 p.m. June 24, when a man started walking behind her, says a Durham Regional Police report.

He ran up to her and struck up a brief conversation before grabbing her by the waist, putting his hand over her mouth, and leading her to a secluded area near a building where he sexually assaulted her.

The man is described as white, unshaven with curly brown hair, in his early twenties, five-foot-five-inches to six-feet tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a grey-hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans.

Anyone with information can contact the Durham Regional Police's Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5323. Anonymous tips can be made to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
