Mills Pontiac workers on strike

May 16, 2008 - 02:47 PM

OSHAWA -- Sixty employees at Mills Pontiac Buick in Oshawa were walking the picket line on Friday, after attempts to negotiate a collective agreement broke down.

The strike involves unionized employees from the dealership's service department, parts department and body shop. The sales department is still up and running.

The employees on strike are all members of CAW Local 222.

Mills Pontiac Chairman Kevin Kent said their concerns revolve around wages and pensions and that the group was in a legal strike position as of midnight on May 15.

No new talks are scheduled, but Mr. Kent said he is ready and willing to negotiate.

The large dealership is located at the corner of Bond Street and Ritson Road.
