Vote for city to have a square on Monopoly Canada
Feb 07, 2010 - 11:19 AM
OSHAWA -- Your click may make the difference as to whether Oshawa takes up residence on the new Monopoly Canada board.
Monopoly maker Hasbro has launched an online contest to choose the cities featured in the new Monopoly Canada edition. Oshawa is up against 64 other cities, with GTA-area competition that includes Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton.
Oshawa’s push to get on the board includes a Facebook page, which lists its administrator as Mayor John Gray, boasting more than 3,700 members.
Up until recently, the voting site had included a leaderboard which showed, at one point, Oshawa moving into 25th place --- close to the top 20 finish which would ensure a spot on the board. But the leaderboard has disappeared in the final days of the contest, in an effort to “add a little mystery,” says a message on the contest’s website.
The message urges people to keep voting.
“The voting’s very close and you can still make a difference - we’re so near the end so whether your city was at the top or the bottom, vote like mad and the top spot could be yours,” it read.? Two additional spots will be filled with wildcard voting to start Monday.
