The Ajax-Pickering News Advertiser Santa Claus Fund prepares to launch its fundraising campaign and distribute gift boxes to children in need throughout Ajax and Pickering with the help of warehouse ‘elves. Among those helping to pack the gift boxes are: Back right, Tim Whittaker, publisher of the Ajax-Pickering News Advertiser; in front, Abe Fakhourie, distribution manager; front right, Sarah Camirand, carrier representative, and John Earley, member of Scouts Canada in Durham Region.

AJAX/PICKERING - Although old St. Nick himself has been known to sit by the fireplace following a successful night of delivery, Santa Claus Fund organizers are hard at work long before the holiday season. In fact, the gifts are chosen in February, the workshop is secured and set up over the summer and the packing of gift boxes for delivery to households began this month. Thousands of volunteers, including Girl Guides, Scouts and service club representatives, deliver the boxes to kids in need.
