To the editor:Re: Let's use gas tax wisely, editorial, May 7. The editorial is a very useful recommendation but fails miserably as to what worthwhile projects to fund. I'm a new resident of the City of Oshawa, strictly due to my failure to investigate the rates of residential taxes, otherwise, I would have bought a house in a municipality that respects the overburdened taxpayer. I have seen the waste at City Hall, too numerous to mention examples, whereby the taxpayers money has been squandered by the elitist City council. In addition, the taxpayer is facing gasoline prices that are rising uncontrollably, food costs spiralling due to the emphasis on biofuels and social programs that are bottomless pits without a thoughtful due process. So, it would be very considerate of the editor if you gave some thought to the plight of the taxpayer and occasionally championed their cause.Alex FabriciusOshawa
