To the editor:Re: Ethanol plant would create jobs, Derek Neill letter, May 11. The writer quotes the number of jobs being created as a result of the construction of the ethanol plant as 700. This comes across as somewhat misleading to general public, particularly to those directly affected by the recent layoff announcements at General Motors. The website of FarmTech Energy Corporation, the company behind the proposed ethanol plant indicates 50 direct jobs and 650 indirect jobs associated with a plant of this size. The 650 indirect jobs I believe would be for the most part agriculture related, none of which would be located within the City of Oshawa.Cam BearOshawa
