Awards and records only part of what made it special

OSHAWA -- The more things change, the more they stay the same, it's often said. That could certainly apply to the Oshawa Generals' career of John Tavares, who, while maturing both on and off the ice in his three-and-a-half years here, remains the same at the core: a kid who just loves to step on the ice and play the game of hockey.

Tavares will do that in London now, having been traded by the Generals for a package that ideally will set them up for another Memorial Cup bid in 2011.
