Help the animals of Durham Region

DURHAM -- Take your dog on a walk for charity.

The Humane Society of Durham Region is having its 17th Annual People for Pets Walkathon. Participate in the five-kilometre walk and enjoy refreshments, games and prizes. There are special prizes for the highest pledges.

The event is on Sunday, May 25, at the Heber Down Conservation Area on Country Lane, Whitby from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pledge forms are available throughout Durham and for more information call the shelter at 905-433-2022, ext. 29 or ext. 0.

It's game on! Prime Minister Stephen Harper met with Governor General Michaëlle Jean this morning to request the dissolution of Parliament. A federal election will be held October 14, 2008.
