Officials hope to have lanes open Firday morning
Sep 04, 2008 - 02:29 PM
DURHAM REGION -- Toronto-bound commuters will face delays on the westbound 401 at the DVP as the cleanup continues in the wake of a fiery early morning crash.
A tractor-trailer crashed and burst into flames shortly after midnight, and the cleanup and concerns about possible damage to a bridge have blocked the westbound collector lanes at the 404/DVP. All westbound traffic in the collectors is being forced off at the DVP northbound.
The driver of the truck survived and is being treated for second degree burns.
Westbound express lanes are still open, however, the exit to Hwy 404/DVP is closed.
Crews will be working throughout the night to get the westbound lanes reopened in time for the morning commute.
