DURHAM -- The death of the first Canadian soldier in 2009 occurred Wednesday when an armoured vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) north of Kandahar City. The fallen soldier is Trooper Brian Richard Good, 42, from the Royal Canadian Dragoons based at Canadian Forces Base in Petawawa, Ont. Trooper Good was serving with the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group. read more
