Separation of genders in school 'ridiculous'

Oct 29, 2007 - 10:16 AM

To the editor:

Re: Girls and Boys are different, Oct. 24.

As a high school student in my final year, I find the separation of genders at schools completely ridiculous.

This provides a basis for discrimination and will only cause us to go back in time. Yes, boys and girls learn differently. It's unfair to say that any student learns in the same way as any other student.

It is the responsibility of the teacher to teach in such a way that everyone in the classroom can understand.

While some students may at first like this change, eventually the two genders will have to be reintroduced to each other in a classroom setting.

Then what?
