Re: I'm burning mad over energy-efficient light bulbs, Ian McMillan column, Nov. 7
To the editor:
I wish to express my deepest disappointment with your newspaper in what are now three negative commentaries concerning CFL bulbs.
While I understand that anyone has the right to express an opinion, are you seriously trying to convey to us you have only received responses confirming Mr. McMillan's opinion? The column and responses concern me as they expressed opinions such as hoarding, government scamming and other misinformation. I feel commentaries such as these left unchallenged only help to erpetuate a mentality resisting much-needed change which in the light of the real energy crisis in Ontario provides no constructive input in dealing with this problem.
I have to laugh as I wonder if these are the same people attending those City or committee meetings peddling their children in front of them expressing views we must leave a greener world but in return unwilling to make the slightest change and what a sacrifice. While to some it may sound true that CFLs may not be as bright or render those promised savings consider this: for almost a century now fluorescent lighting has been used in business offices, schools, manufacturing plants and city streets successfully. Why? Because it saves money and is just as bright. Still think your are being scammed?
