Coalition plan is infuriating

Dec 03, 2008 - 02:36 PM

To the editor:

I just have to vent. I am so infuriated by what's happening in Ottawa.

Make no mistake, I am no political guru. I try to figure out what I can when it comes to politics.

However, this time, it seems abundantly clear to me there is a political coup happening. Maybe there aren't guns and maybe no one's getting hurt but I still believe it's a Machiavellian coup.

How is it that if you lose an election -- fair and square -- that you are able to join with the other losing parties and make a new one, forcing power into your hands?

I think at school, the kids should get together and force power over their teachers.

I think at work, I should join with my colleagues and force power over my boss.

I think at the grocery store, we should join together and force power over the poor teller.

I think when your kids lose at hockey, overpower the referee and force the win or overpower the commissioner of the league and force him out.

I think when I feed the kids vegetables, they should overpower me and eat all the desserts they desire.

Perhaps that's all over-simplified, but really, that's how it boils down to me -- people who lost and can't take it like a man.

What message does this send?

I just can't believe that this is legal. I think it's treason.
