To the editor:
With prices of hydro, food and heating fuel going up and most prices up along with an uncertain economy ahead of us, it's a miracle people can keep their heads above water.
It's no wonder certain desperate people do things to make money.
Politicians at all levels of government ought to be ashamed when that happens. We need to hold politicians accountable more then we do. We need politicians with compassion when it isn't election time, not just when it is.
It's a shame Justin Trudeau or Tim Lang isn't the prime minister. They have compassion, vision, charisma, etc.. The best we can do is pick the best local candidate. It's not Bev Oda. She smiles a lot but, when she gets to Ottawa she forgets what she's there for.
Bryan Ransom lacks the charisma of Barack Obama or Sarah Palin, but he is the best choice for Durham.
He's compassionate, intelligent and we need him in Ottawa. Hopefully, in 2010, we will have John Mutton back as mayor of Clarington. We lack leadership here. The whole council ought be kicked out in 2010.
John R. Sturdy
