To the editor:
I am sick of seeing the front page of the paper read something like "North Oshawa residents are complaining again about students' living arrangements."
Of course there has never been that exact headline, but you get the point.
I can't help but quote Kathy Wright, who said, "We bought our home in this neighbourhood because it offered us the lifestyle we worked so hard to achieve."
Kathy, what do you think the students are trying to do? They are working hard so that one day they can achieve a lifestyle similar to yours. It'd be interesting to know if Ms. Wright attended school herself, and if she had to live in off-campus housing hours away from her parents' residence. People need to quit whining and move if they have a problem.
My neighbourhood isn't the greatest, but that's up to the police to deal with -- not the City to prevent people from living here. The students have every right to live in those houses if everything goes through. Hopefully the City will do one thing right and accept the proposal. Those students are our future, and they can't get very far if they have nowhere to live.
