ORANGEVILLE -- Young prospects from the Bowmanville Eagles and Durham Fury got an opportunity to strut their stuff at the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League's annual Future Stars game on Wednesday in Orangeville.
Chris Rivest of the Bowmanville Eagles had a goal and assist in leading Team East to a 5-3 victory over Team North. Teammate Ben Parker also chipped in with an assist, while John Bull was tagged for a minor penalty in the game. Brandon Foote, of the Durham Fury, suited up for Team North, saving 14 of 15 shots in his 29-plus minutes.
The Fury was also represented by Michael Dempsey, Tim Halloran and Matt Gauld on Team South, who edged Team West 4-3.
The Eagles (14-16-9) are back in action tonight when they travel to Lindsay to face the Muskies (12-20-4), and home to the Cobourg Cougars (10-29-1) on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The Fury (11-24-5) are off until Tuesday when they host the Markham Waxers (27-8-2).
