CLARINGTON -- Students in schools governed by the local public board have raised more than $67,000 for Haiti and the fundraising continues.
Fundraising began in many Kawartha Pine Ridge District schools after an earthquake ravaged the island nation in January. And, while many schools have wrapped up fundraising, students at other schools will continue with events that will push the board past the $67,282.79 total hit by the middle of last week.
Upcoming events in Clarington include a Hot Dogs for Haiti lunch at Central Public in Bowmanville, and a dance at Vincent Massey in Bowmanville Feb. 12. Students at Hampton's M.J. Hobbs Senior Public School continue a Hearts for Haiti campaign, led by students in the Community Connections Club.
Schools elsewhere in the board, including Peterborough and Northumberland, also continue fundraising efforts.
