Third person charged in Oshawa abduction

Feb 04, 2010 - 11:39 AM

OSHAWA -- A third man has been charged in the kidnapping of a Crown witness who was snatched outside an Oshawa courthouse last month.

Aaron Michael McGee, 28, of Toronto, had been identified by Durham police as a suspect in the abduction of the man outside the King Street West courthouse Jan. 4. He surrendered to police in Oshawa Wednesday and was charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement and attempting to obstruct justice.

Two other men -- one from Toronto, the other from Orangeville -- had been previously charged in connection with the incident. Police said a man arriving at the courthouse to testify for the Crown was grabbed and hustled into a van and driven away.

The next day, cops executed a search warrant at a home in Orangeville and found the witness, who was unharmed.
