BLACKSTOCK -- Dozens of pot plants, loaded rifles and ammunition were seized last weekend after Durham police came knocking at a Mountjoy Road address.
According to Durham police, a Blackstock man is facing a lengthy list of drug and weapons charges after officers with the service's drug enforcement unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Mountjoy Road around 5:20 p.m. on Sept. 27 as part of an ongoing drug investigation.
While at the address, authorities located and removed 30 marijuana plants that were along the back of the property near a tree line. The value of the outdoor pot plantation is valued at $30,000, say police.
As well, six rifles, including several that were loaded, and a quantity of ammunition were also seized inside the residence, police say. Investigators also located 14 grams of dried dope in a bag on the kitchen counter, add police.
The remainder of the property was searched by officers on ATVs, but they failed to turn up any further marijuana, police say.
The homeowner was arrested without incident.
Todd McKee, 46, of Mountjoy Road has been charged with production of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession contrary to order, careless storage and weapons dangerous. Mr. McKee was held for a bail hearing.
Anyone with information about illegal drug activity is asked to contact the Durham drug unit at 1-888-579-1520, extension 5800.
