Bomb threat brings about bank evacuation

BROOKLIN -- A bizarre bomb threat brought about the evacuation of a Brooklin bank Thursday afternoon.

Durham police searched the Scotiabank building, at Winchester Road and Baldwin Street, after a threat was phoned in at 2 p.m. A male caller told a bank employee explosive devices had been placed on the building and instructed her to leave money at a specified location before 4 p.m., police said.

No bomb was found and after an a hour the building was declared safe.
