SIX NATIONS -- The Clarington Green Gaels have chosen the most inopportune time to go on a losing streak.
After
breezing through their 20-game regular season with an unblemished
record, the Green Gaels had continued that romp throughout the post
season, until the last two games.
Friday night they travelled to
Six Nations and were cast aside for the second straight game by the
Western Conference champion Rebals, this time by a 10-7 count.
The now trail the best-of-five series 2-0.
The
game was tied 7-7 with just over nine minutes remaining before Six
Nations scored to break the deadlock, spurring them onto the victory.
The Gaels’ season is on the line in Game 3, Sunday at 8 p.m., at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex.
In
Game 2, the Gaels were led by the four assists of Mark Matthews, while
goals were provided by Blake Bremner (2), Todd Collins, John
LaFontaine, Ryan Degerdon, Matt Cockerton and Steve Conrad.
Kalvin Thomas got the nod in net after Zack Higgins started Game 1.
Coach
Jason Crosbie is eligible to return for Game 3 after serving the second
of his two-game suspension Friday night stemming from an incident at
the conclusion of the Halton Hills series.
If the Gaels can extend the series Sunday, Game 4 is slated for Wednesday night at Six Nations.
