Spike for Sick Kids

Mar 13, 2008 - 02:38 PM

BOWMANVILLE -- Take a Saturday off to serve, set and spike to support Sick Kids Hospital.

Invado Volleyball and Ethical Apparel in Orono is running a co-ed charity volleyball tournament to support the James Fund for Neuroblastoma Research at Sick Kids hospital.

In 2001 the Birrell family started raising money for research into neuroblastoma, a cancer of the central nervous system, to find a treatment to save seven-year-old James Birrell from the devastating disease. Since James's death the fund has raised more than $1.9 million for research about the condition.

The tournament will take place at Bowmanville High School on Saturday, April 5. The cost is $180 per team, with $50 going to the James Fund.

Each team will require at least two females on the court at a time. Teams of all levels are invited to join. To sign up your team, contact natasha@invado.ca by April 2.
