Bowmanville Maria returns home

Jul 16, 2008 - 02:32 PM

TORONTO -- After months of adventure that included performing onstage at the London Palladium and meeting Andrew Lloyd Webber, Bowmanville native and current Oshawa resident Donna LaJeunesse was among the latest two contestants cut from the CBC reality series How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria.

Ms. LaJeunesse found herself in the bottom three after Sunday night's performance show, along with fellow contestants Tamara Fifield and Elicia MacKenzie. After singing the three-way elimination song Tell Me on a Sunday, judge Simon Lee chose to save Ms. MacKenzie. Both Ms. LaJeunesse and Ms. Fifield were sent home.

They were the fifth and sixth Marias eliminated. Four contestants are still in the running to solve the problem of Maria by landing the lead role in a new Toronto stage production of The Sound of Music, produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and David Mirvish.
