Jun 25, 2009 - 11:54 AM

A Cannington teen is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer last week.
According to police, the incident began when the 17-year-old female phoned to report a break-and-enter at a local home where windows were being smashed. When police arrived, they quickly determined the teen was responsible for the damage.
When approached by officers, the teen attempted to flee. An officer attempted to block the door and was struck by the teen, according to police.
The teen -- who cannot be identified -- has been charged with assault police, mischief and public mischief.
