Guns seized in police raid on Cannington home

May 27, 2009 - 09:43 AM

CANNINGTON -- A north Durham man faces more than 40 charges after a police raid on his home resulted in the seizure of several guns.

Durham police, backed by members of the provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, seized 25 guns -- 19 long guns and six handguns -- along with 15 prohibited ammunition magazines from the home on Cameron Street East in Cannington last Thursday. While most of the firearms were registered properly, the owner didn't have the required licensing for them, police said.

John William Brook, 52, of Cannington faces 42 firearms offences.
