Saturday, June 6 is a wonderful day for a picnic.
That's the day that Lakeview Manor will host its annual community picnic, featuring a barbecue, entertainment, games, information booths and a yard sale.
"It's an opportunity to bring the community out to Lakeview Manor," said Diane Godfrey, past president of the Lakeview Manor Auxiliary.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, and will also feature a special attraction this year.
Volunteers, residents and staff have worked with the Beaverton-Thorah-Eldon Historical Society and Beaverton 125 committee to pull together a special mural of photographs.
"We've got a hodgepodge of interesting photos from Beaverton's history," said Loraine Gurney, the co-ordinator of recreation and therapy services for Lakeview Manor.
These include local landmarks, businesses, sports teams and events, including one from the Beaverton fair.
"We've got some really neat looking photos," Ms Gurney said.
The collage-style mural will be unveiled during the picnic and will likely find a permanent home in the main hall of the facility.
