Car trapped under tractor trailer on 401

Emergency crews on eastbound lanes, west of Thickson Road

WHITBY -- Traffic has backed up on the eastbound 401 west of Thickson Road as emergency crews try to free the driver of a car that’s become wedged under a tractor trailer.

The accident happened shortly before noon.

The car has been pinned beneath the trailer part of the rig in front of the rear wheels.

It’s not known how many people were in the vehicle but the OPP is reporting only minor injuries.
