Facades about the fall on two buildings in historic downtown

BOWMANVILLE -- Work crews Thursday morning began pulling away debris in two historic buildings gutted by fire in downtown Bowmanville.
That paves the way for demolition that will bring down the facades as well.
The buildings that were home to Lange's Photo Lab and Second Chance clothing were left as burned out shells filled with a tangle of fallen debris after the blaze on Tuesday.
Heavy machinery started pulling the rubble from the back of the buildings about 8:30 a.m. and crews were preparing shortly after 10 to begin knocking down the brick facade that faces King Street just west of Temperance. Nobody was hurt in the blaze but more than a dozen people who lived in apartments above the stores were left homeless as a result of the fire.
The fire broke out Tuesday in Lange's Photo Lab at 31 King St. W. and flames roared through the front window about 8:30 a.m.
Wind carried the flames to the building next door which housed Second Chance Clothing and smoke and water took a heavy toll on several other buildings.
