CLARINGTON -- An Oshawa man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after his vehicle crossed the centre line and collided head-on with an oncoming car Tuesday night in rural Clarington. Durham police are investigating the possibility alcohol contributed to the crash, on Taunton Road just east of Courtice Road, around 9 p.m. Police said the 32-year-old Oshawa man's westbound Volkswagen crossed over the centre line and slammed into an Infinity driven by a 39-year-old Clarington woman. The woman was treated at hospital for minor injuries and released. The man, who sustained serious head injuries, was stabilized at a local hospital before being transferred to an intensive care unit in Toronto. Police are still investigating the crash and are asking witnesses to call 905-579-1520, extension 5225.
