Majority of local beaches unfit for swimming

DURHAM -- The majority of Durham's beaches are unfit for swimming, the Region's most recent testing shows.

After tests conducted the week of July 14, 10 of 15 beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming because of elevated bacteria levels. Both Pickering's beaches are fit for swimming, as are Newcastle Beach, Whitby Beach and Beaverton Beach North.
