DURHAM REGION -- Fall colour is in full glory with warm sunny weather continuing through the long Thanksgiving weekend.
And you can see the colour from high above the earth. A NASA satellite which passed over the Great Lakes area Saturday during the noon hour captured the hues. They are clearly visible north and east of Lake Simcoe, and throughout the Kawarthas and Haliburton.
"This Thanksgiving weekend will be outstanding for fall colour touring!!!" declared Ontario Tourism in its Friday fall colour report. The three exclamation points underscore the excitement of the author.
"In the Kawartha Lakes region the colours have reached their Peak," it said.
"Vibrant red, rust, yellow and deep orange are the dominant colours in the area."
Among the areas where colours can be enjoyed on a day tour are Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls and Kinmount. A tour along Hwy. 35 or Hwy 121 will offer some of the best sights.
