OSHAWA -- Next up: Marc Savard.
The Boston Bruins star is the only person standing between John Tavares and his pursuit of becoming the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Oshawa Generals.
The 18-year-old Ontario Hockey League scoring leader fired a pair of goals Friday night to help lift the Generals over the visiting Erie Otters, 6-2 at the General Motors Centre.
With the two points, Tavares, who is in his fourth season with the club, passed Daryl Lafrance for second on the all-time scoring list and now has 347 career points. Savard holds top spot with 413 points.
Four other players had two point nights for Oshawa, with Alexander Denezhkin and Taylor Carnevale each added a goal and an assist, while Michael Del Zotto and Kory Nagy had a pair of helpers each.
Brett Parnham and Shea Kewin, playing in his first game since breaking his leg in the playoffs last spring, added a goal a piece.
Kevin Bailie improved to 3-0 in goal thanks to a 28 save effort as the Generals as a team upped their record to 5-4 heading into Saturday night’s game in Owen Sound.
Oshawa returns home for a holiday Monday game against the London Knights. Face off is at 2:05 p.m.
