CLARINGTON -- Foul play is not suspected in the death of a man whose remains were found inside a burned-out car Monday afternoon in rural Clarington.
"We're not investigating anything that's suspicious," Durham police Sergeant Paul McCurbin said.
He said an autopsy on the body of the man, who has not been identified by police, was scheduled for Tuesday.
An investigation was launched after Clarington firefighters were called to the area of Carscadden Road and Concession 8 at about 5:30 p.m. Monday. Firefighters found the vehicle parked on the shoulder of the road and engulfed in flames, said Chief Gord Weir.
The body was found after flames were extinguished, the chief said.
