OSHAWA -- The lawyer for a 14-year-old charged in connection with an accident that killed two schoolmates says he's hoping the youth will get bail.

"We're hopeful he'll come home today," Alan Richter told newsdurhamregion.com while he waited for his client to make a court appearance.

The youth is charged with two counts of criminal negligence causing death after a car went out of control on Audley Road, north of Taunton, in Ajax on Sunday morning.

Police say the car rolled end over end after crashing through a gate and into a field.  Two 15-year-old boys were pronounced dead at the scene.

When ask about how the 14-year-old who's charged is doing, Mr. Richter said,  "It's not easy on him. You can't paint this nicely.  There are two young men dead.  There's nothing they (the family of the accused) can say or I can say to make it better for (the accused)."

The teen arrived at court shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, still dressed in a hospital gown two days after the accident.  He was treated Sunday at hospital for non-life threatening injuries and has been in police custody since then.

All three boys attended a private Islamic school located not far from the accident scene.

The bail hearing is expected to be held this afternoon.
