Jan 27, 2010 - 04:30 AM

AJAX -- Two people were sent to local hospital after a collision at the Lakeridge Road and Taunton Road intersection Tuesday morning.

The front of both a black pickup truck and a blue SUV were crushed after one vehicle t-boned the other at about 9:48 a.m., said Sergeant Nancy van Rooy of Durham Regional Police. Two people were taken to a local hospital with one person more seriously injured than the other, said Sgt. van Rooy.

A number of people called in the accident and an off-duty police officer stopped to offer first aid, she said.

"There are a lot of Good Samaritans out there."

Durham police closed the road for investigation, but it was open again by the afternoon.
