PETERBOROUGH -- An Ajax boy died when he lost control of a dirt bike and collided with a car Sunday in cottage country.
Peterborough County OPP said 10-year-old Alexander Novia failed to negotiate a turn on a cottage road in the Crystal Lake area Sunday afternoon. The bike entered a lane with a steep grade and careened down the slope, striking a car, police said.
The boy was airlifted from the scene to hospital in Minden where he was pronounced dead, police said. No one else was injured in the mishap.
Police said Alexander was wearing a helmet and was being supervised by adults when the accident occurred.
An investigation continues.
