WHITBY -- Canadian Blood Services is asking residents to roll up their sleeves and give blood.
About 900,000 units of blood are needed this year. A single trauma victim may require 30-50 units of blood products to survive injuries.
Now is the time to make an appointment. In central Ontario last year during May and June about one out of every five appointments to give blood was not kept.
The clinic will be at regional headquarters at 605 Rossland Rd. E. on Friday, May 23, from noon to 3 p.m. There will also be a clinic in Brooklin at St. Leo's Roman Catholic Church on Monday, May 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. The church is located at 130 Watford St.
