DURHAM -- Make sure your water source is healthy this spring.
Durham Sustain Ability and the Well Wise Resource Centre advise testing a well in the early spring and after a heavy rainfall because that will give the most accurate assessment of the water.
Well Aware will give guided self-assessments to rural residents. A representative will visit your home and give a one-on-one tutorial about how to care for your septic system or well. They will also provide residents with information about financial incentives that are available. All visits are free.
Residents can also drop into one of the following locations to get their free bacteria water testing bottle: 101 Consumers Dr. in Whitby, Garnett Rickard Centre in Bowmanville, 181 Perry St. in Port Perry, 1 Cameron St. E. in Cannington and 51 Toronto St. in Uxbridge.
For more information about water testing, call the Well Wise Resource Centre at 905-983-9911 or the Region of Durham Environment Health Department at 905-723-3818 and press 0.
