OSHAWA -- The host Oshawa Storm came away with one medal from the Ontario Ringette Association A championships held over the weekend.

Oshawa's Junior A team defeated Durham rival Whitby 5-2 in the bronze medal game to claim that piece of hardware.

Oshawa won five of six round-robin games, losing only to Richmond Hill, but then dropped a playoff game to Jordan to get relegated to the bronze medal match. Karri Cooper was Oshawa's top scorer in the tournament with eight points.

Ajax#2 had the best showing among local teams, winning a silver medal in the Petite Lajeuness division.

Pickering took a bronze medal in the Open division.

Oshawa was represented in four of the five divisions, finishing ninth in Petite Lajeuness, 10th in Tween and fifth in Open.

Provincial champions were Waterloo in Petite Lajeuness, Richmond Hill in Tween, Jordan in both Junior and Belle, and Waterloo in Open.
